Taking Online Learning Offline with Reading Eggs Workbooks
(Inside: We are so excited to check out the opportunity to take online learning offline with Reading Eggs and Mathseeds workbooks!)This homeschool year has been a little chaotic here.We have Mr. C taking classes a few days a week at the school, A-Man is doing first grade and doing more traditional school work, and Cap'n M is so determined to "do school like brothers" I'm searching for new activities for him to do every day.Because this year has been so busy, I've been on a mission to outsource more of my homeschool day. We've turned to online programs to help, but today I'm sharing how we're taking online learning offline...
This post is sponsored by Reading Eggs. I was given workbooks to try with my family and was compensated for my time. All thoughts and opinions are my own, and I wasn't required to give a positive review. Please see my full disclosure for details.
Taking Online Learning Offline with Reading Eggs Workbooks
See, we started off the year excited to try out and use several different online-based activities and curriculum. And it works great... but, we had to find a way to reinforce what we learned online in a hands-on way.Thankfully we found some fun and colorful workbooks that worked perfectly with one of our favorite online programs...
We Loved Reading Eggs Online
We tried Reading Eggs online and fell in love with it this year.My kids love the fun games and songs, and we love using Reading Eggs and their math program, Mathseeds in our homeschool. In fact, I shared more about how we use them in this post. But all of the kids are working on their fine motor skills this year, and we knew we'd like some activities that they could do to reinforce what they learned online. That's where the Reading Eggs and Mathseeds workbooks came in!
Taking Online Learning Offline
We wanted the kids to be physically coloring, writing, and practicing what they've learned in a hands-on way, so we started using the Reading Eggs and Mathseeds workbooks! We got kindergarten books for Cap'n M, first-grade books for A-Man, and a 5th-grade reading book for Mr. C.Mr. C is a confident reader, but we love that the Reading Eggs book gave him structured practice with comprehension, spelling, and other specific reading skills.A-Man is excited that he's branching into first-grade learning goals, and Cap'n M is just thrilled that he's "doing school" with the big kids this year!At five years old, the kindergarten book is a little ahead of Cap'n M, but he's been enjoying doing them with help.
What We Liked About the Workbooks
We really appreciated that the workbooks are brightly colored and well-made. The paper is thick, which helps my littles who are still figuring out how to be gentle with paper!I also really like that the activities in the book are so closely related to the activities in the online program. While you could do either program on its own, they really complement each other well.We also really love the variety of activities on each page. You aren't doing the same thing over and over again. You're matching, you're tracing, you're coloring, and more!
